Black mountain clay fires to a beautiful dark brown in reduction. I love how white glazes alone on this dark clay create a variety of shades due the glaze catching at ridges and the rate at which the piece was dipped in glaze.
The speckles here are due to large particles of iron in the clay body reacting with the chemicals in the glaze and kiln environment.
