A friend asked me to make a set of mugs for them like Mug 54. The glaze technique I used on Mug 54 is elusive because I didn't take super great notes when I glazed it. So, I created this test mug to check how well I could repeat the result based on what I could remember. The test came out pretty different, but still beautiful. The original was more of an ocean-look while this new test has a cosmic and ocean vibe. Even the final set of mugs (see Mug 71) I made her were slightly different from this test mug.
Why the sensitive variation? Rutile pink glaze seems to vary significantly depending on the glaze thickness, angle, firing temperature, and even batch.
Firing: Reduction high fire
Clay: Bmix
