Crystallization that we see in rocks is due to quartz, which is made of the same chemical composition as glass. So, it makes sense that a transparent glassy glaze creates this beautiful crystallization effect when it runs into a non-glassy glaze. This was the first time I encountered this effect in glazing. For this mug, I crossed amber over butterscotch.
