Sometimes, you can find gloss glazes that create a beautiful clash of crystallization when crossed over matte glazes. In fact, layering in the other direction of matte over gloss would have created a different look than what you see below. The mug was first fully dipped in butter scotch glaze, then partially dipped with sandy's green, and finally dipping amber part over the sandy's green. This glaze combo is fairly sensitive to the glaze batch and firing. So, it's really difficult to repeat the same outcome.
This is actually the combination of three different glazes. I got very lucky here because you can see that the falling glazes almost reached the bottom. If this happened, the mug would have stuck to the kiln shelf!
