A couple of other artists at the studio used masking tape to create negative space when glazing. I loved the clean lines the tape created compared to what I could achieve with painting wax resist on the clay. I used this technique to create the pattern here. The clay here is a midfire clay called terracotta, which fires to this beautifully burnt brick red.
